Wood Kiln Drying
You are passionate about making the best project you can make. Regardless if this is your 1st project or your 1,000th, you care about the end result. In order to do that, you need start off with a solid foundation - dry wood that is bug free.
Indoor projects need to start with wood that is between 6% - 8% moisture content to avoid warping and cracking.
Lots of little critters make the tree their home and not all of them go away when the tree is cut. You don’t want visitors after the project is complete.
The iDry vacuum kiln is USDA certified and the only way to ensure that your wood is dry and bug free!

Benefits of Kiln Drying
Faster Drying Time: Vacuum Kiln drying is much faster than air and other kiln drying methods. The process typically takes a few weeks, allowing makers to spend less time waiting and making it more accessible for homeowners who want to utilize their fallen tree.
Improved Stability: Kiln drying reduces the moisture content in wood, making it less likely to warp, crack, or shrink after it is processed.
Consistency: Kiln drying allows wood to dry more uniformly, creating a consistent and even product.
Protection Against Insects and Fungi: Kiln drying kills insects and fungi that may be living in the wood, preventing them from damaging or infesting the wood.
Who we work with
It is our goal to reduce the amount of urban wood going to the landfill. We work with tree services, woodworkers, makers, homeowners and homeowner associations, artists, and DIYers to provide options to re-use or upcycle urban trees once they have been cut down due to disease, safety, or development. Our vacuum kiln reduces the amount of time and storage space required to dry wood. This makes upcycling downed urban trees into furniture, home goods, or works of art more feasible for the general public.
